  "I began taking yoga in January 2008 with Karen Abbo. I was looking for a bit of relaxation time, something I didn’t get much of with a three year old and a one year old running around the house. After about the third week I was hooked. I began doing yoga every morning before work (while the kids were still asleep), because if I didn’t I just didn’t feel right and yoga night became my favorite night of the week!

The benefits of doing yoga are far beyond what I had ever imagined. I joined because I needed balance in my life. I am running around constantly-the whole working mom story- and I needed some quiet time. What I found was that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be. My flexibility has increased drastically and every week I saw improvement. I was worried about others watching and looking silly, but honestly, I think I spent more time with my eyes closed than with my eyes open. Yoga is all about you and no competition between others or within yourself. Everyone is focused on themselves and the present moment- not each other.

Karen does work us hard- but "just right hard", "feel good hard"- not the "I’m going to be sick hard." She helps us get the poses correct and stretches every muscle in the body. By the time the final relaxation comes, your body feels amazing. I missed her more than anyone when my family and I took a vacation, although I did bring my yoga mat!"   - Carla P.
